Mark Lindquist, sculptor, photographer, designer and
Motion Blur Artist, creates images through motion
control camera systems and manual means. This short
video juxtaposes Lindquist’s process of creating the
abstracts and equipment against a tranquil backdrop of
nature.
Motion blur photography is accomplished by several
means, namely panning and light trailing. Lindquist uses
unconventional methods and equipment to create his
motion blur photography, which reflects over 10 years of
research and development of his processes. Creating
motion blur manually is Lindquist’s anchor process using
handheld Nikon and Canon cameras and lenses. The
robotically created work is experimental, and evolving.
Intermingling images from both styles and techniques
affords Lindquist a multi-dimensional platform from
which to work.
The robots were created by Mark Lindquist at Lindquist
Studios with the help of individuals across the country
supporting the project and the development of the
machines.

This video is about Motion Blur and Abstract Photography
by Mark Lindquist - Beaver Pond Abstracts. In the summer
of 2016, Mark Lindquist, artist/photographer, spent 2
1/2 months in the State of Washington near Olympia, the
capital, photographing a beaver pond. Many of the
abstract photos were the result of beavers swimming in
the pond creating ripples and waves. The reflections of
trees and grasses on the water dance along the pond
surface and shore edge. Lindquist explores abstract
photography informed by painters, expressionist
paintings and abstract expressionist artists.
